COVE HAVEN

Cove Haven is a waterfront property located in Greenport, NY, designed to be a summertime escape for a family of four and their guests. The design reflects the clients' admiration for vernacular architecture combined with modern aesthetics. The goal was to blend classic New England architecture with contemporary elements and viewpoints. Cedar siding is left to weather naturally, creating a timeless look. Expansive glazing on the rear of the house celebrates the water views and enhances the summer lifestyle, while limited glazing on the front provides privacy from the road. The entry splits the house in two, drawing guests in between the flanking colonial volumes. The full-height glazing of the entry gallery welcomes guests by framing views of the water beyond, while also serving as a physical and acoustical separation between the shared and private spaces of the house. This thoughtful approach ensures a balance between openness and seclusion, making Cove Haven a serene retreat.
